Health Testing

We take the health and welfare of our Spaniels very seriously. All of the stud dogs that we use are DNA tested with a CLEAR result for all conditions relevant to the to the Cocker Spaniel breed. These tests include Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRCD), Familial Nephropathy (FN), Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS) and Adult Onset Neuropathy (AON). This testing ensures that every puppy that leaves us is guaranteed to never be affected by any of these horrible diseases. Life at Skylas Spaniels

Skylas Spaniels is located in a rural setting and all of our dogs live inside with us. We have 3 dedicated rooms for the dogs, all floors and walls are tiled for hygiene and easy cleaning. We have a room dedicated for bitches who are in whelp, a room specifically for our older puppies to give them more space to play and exercise and our main dog room where the dogs socialise and sleep together. During the day on a rotation basis the adult dogs will have free roam of the house. Each day on rotation we take our dogs for 2 walks, this can include local lead walks down country paths, a trip to the park where they meet and socialise with other dogs or a trip to a secluded beach where they run free on the sand and in the sea! We have different activities each day for the adult dogs and the children spend endless hours playing with them. We do our best to give them a varied and enriched life and we treat them as part of our family.

About Us

We are Keith and Joanne Johnson and we have 4 children aged 6, 7, 17 and 23. We chose the name of our Kennels from our very first Cocker Spaniel Skyla. Cocker Spaniel's are our favourite breed of dog, not just because of their stunning looks but also because of their divine temperaments, Cocker Spaniels make the most wonderful, loving and loyal companions. We both gave up our jobs and we do this full time so the majority of our time is dedicated spending time with our dogs whether that be going on walks, grooming or looking after puppies. We really hope you enjoy visiting our site, we update regularly so please visit again soon.
